About Cumbria Kart Racing Club
Welcome to the Cumbria Kart Racing Club website, winner of the 2006 Alexander Forbes Motor Sports Association Motor Club of the Year. Our home is Rowrah circuit in North Cumbria (punch CA26 3XU into your Sat Nav) or for the traditional people amongst you M6 junction 40, take the A66 to Cockermouth, then the A5086 to Rowrah.
The 2013 season will be our 50th Anniversary. From a small enthusiastic group of volunteers who created the circuit in 1963 the club and circuit has grown into the fantastic facility it is today. Even today, the circuit is still run by a small enthusiastic group of volunteers who continue to strive to make the circuit one of the best in the UK wich is constantly voted for by the drivers and competitors who make long journeys to visit us.
The Club continues to run the MSA Lets go Karting Scheme, where you can come along to the circuit and have a go on a race kart, with full tuition and safety equipment, from just £5.00 (further details elsewhere on the CKRC website). CKRC pioneered the "Racing For Buttons" program, our search for a young driver to become the next Formula 1 sensation, and this was taken up by the MSA who introduced the Lets go Karting Scheme to encourage more people into the sport. With the current success of ex-karting sensations such as David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Paul DiResta, all of whom started their careers in karting and, indeed, visited Rowrah on many occasions during their karting career, karting is becoming more and more popular so why not visit us and see if the karting bug bites?
The club is run by true karting enthusiasts, people who have dedicated years to the sport they love, whether they have been competitors, families of competitors, mechanics or regular spectators. As with all good clubs we are always looking for like minded people to help out so if you're interested in helping officiate at club meetings please contact Marion or Malcolm Fell on 01229 463748 for further information.
Once again this year, we are very busy on track. We have the Super 1 Championship visiting the circuit with both the Rotax and MSA series and, once again, we will be hosting the ABkC Open Championship over the weekend of the 27th/28th April Apart from these stand alone meetings, we also have visiting Championships in our Club meetings – Northern Karting Federation rounds for both ABkC and NKF championship, the WTP challenge and the RAF championship are all back to race with us Our Bank Holiday meeting will also incorporate the Super 2 Honda championship which we have successfully run for a number of years now.
We are always striving to improve the facilities at Rowrah for all our competitors and look forward to seeing you at the track in the 2013 season.
