CUMBRIA KART
RACING CLUB 1.1 TITLE 1.1.1 Cumbria Kart Racing Club - 2008 Club Championship.
1.2 JURISDICTION 1.2.1 The Cumbria Kart Club Championship is organised and administered by the Cumbria Kart Racing Club in accordance with the General Regulations of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and these Championship Regulations.

1.4. DRIVER ELIGIBILITY 1.4.1. Entrants must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of Cumbria Kart Racing Club and in possession of a valid 2008 MSA entrants licence. 1.4.2 Drivers and entrant/drivers must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of Cumbria Kart Racing Club and be in possession of a valid MSA Competition licence (minimum Kart National B (novice) status). 1.4.3. All necessary documentation must be presented for checking at all rounds when signing on.
1.5. REGISTRATION 1.5.1. All members of Cumbria Kart Racing Club holding an MSA licence are automatically entered for the 2008 Club Championship.
1.6. 2008 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS 1.6.1 The Championship will be contested over 11 rounds at Lakeland Stadium, Rowrah.
1.6.2. The dates
of the 11 rounds will be as follows -- Sunday, 13th April, 2008 Sunday, 11th May, 2008 Sunday, 8th June, 2008
Sunday, 13th July,

1.7.1 Points will be awarded to competitors listed as finishers in the heats and finals as follows: Heats - 1st 25, 2nd 24, 3rd 23 etc Finals - 1st 55, 2nd 52, 3rd 50, 4th 49, 5th 48 etc. All karts that come under starters orders and take the start will be classified as a finisher on a roll back of laps basis. 1.7.2. The final round of the Championship on Sunday, 14th December, 2008 will carry additional 50 signing on bonus points. These points will be counted as a separate item and not as part of the December race points. This means that December’s race meeting points can still be counted as a dropped score if necessary but the 50 bonus points can still be counted.
1.7.3 The final
Championship positions will be determined from the totals of a
maximum of 9 best scores from all 11 rounds, unless, for some
reason, meetings are cancelled. In which case, the following will
apply: 1.7.4 Should any driver be totally excluded from a meeting for any reason they cannot drop that round, it will count as one of their 9 results. Should any driver be excluded from a race (heat or final) it will be at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course on that day as to whether the offence is deemed serious enough to count as part of his/her championship result. 1.7.5 Should a tie result from the total of 9 rounds, for any position, the results of the dropped rounds will be taken into account. If there is still a tie for any position then it will be decided by the total number of 1st places gained in the A finals. If still undecided, the number of 2nd places in the A final, then 3rd places and so on until resolved.
1.8. AWARDS 1.8.1. Per round - there will be one trophy awarded for every four entries in each class. 1.8.2. Overall Championship - the winner of each class will receive a championship trophy plus the perpetual trophy which will be kept until the last round of the 2009 series. In addition, each class winner will use the 'C' plate at Cumbria Kart Racing Club meetings only for one year.
1.9. COMPETITORS OBLIGATIONS 1.9.1. It is mandatory for all competitors to attend all drivers briefings arranged by the Clerk of the Course. 1.9.2. Title to awards - in the event of any provisional results being revised after any provisional presentation and such revisions affect the distribution of any awards, the competitor concerned must return such awards to C.K.R.C. in good condition within 7 days.
2. JUDICIAL PROCEDURES 2.1.1 Will be in accordance with the 2008 MSA General Regulations –Breach of Regulations C(d) 39, with the exception of 39c which will not apply. 2.1.2 If the Clerk of the Course determines that a time penalty under C(d) 13 is appropriate, then 13. will apply, but the time limit will be one minute for all race distances.
3.1 ENTRIES 3.1.1. Supplementary Regulations and entry forms will be available to all competitors from the Competition Secretary. 3.1.2. Competitors are responsible for sending in correct and complete entries with the correct fee to arrive prior to the closing date, which will be shown in the S.R's. 3.1.3. Entries will only be acknowledged by request and a SAE is enclosed with the entry for that purpose. 3.1.4 The entry fee will be according to the S.R.'s for each meeting. 3.1.5. Entry fees will only be refunded if withdrawn prior to the closing date, minus an administration charge of £10.00. Entries withdrawn after the closing date will not be entitled to a refund. 3.1.6. Late entries may be accepted, at the discretion of the Competition Secretary, to fill grids.
3.2 PRACTICE 3.2.1. Official practice will be the minimum period as specified in the MSA regulations.
3.3. GRID POSITIONS 3.3.1 The maximum grid will not exceed 30 for 60/100/125/210cc karts; 20 for 250cc karts. 3.3.2. For all classes, the grid positions will be allocated by receipt of entry except when specified otherwise in the S.R's.
3.4. RACES 3.4.1 Race duration will be as specified in the programme for the meeting. 3.4.2. Heats and finals duration may be reduced in wet weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances and will be announced on the dummy grid accordingly prior to the race. Changes can also be made during the race for safety reasons.
3.5. STARTS 3.5.1. Will be as MSA specific karting regulation K69 and 70. Penalties will be imposed on the pole position driver for speed considered to be too fast or too slow. Penalties may also be imposed on the No. 2 position driver if considered to have broken formation prior to the start line. Drivers who fail to take their correct position on the dummy grid when instructed must start the race at the rear of the last row on the grid. 3.5.2. Excessive weaving to warm up tyres is prohibited.
3.6. RACE STOPS 3.6.1. Will be as MSA specific karting regulations K72-75. Note - any competitor who was deemed to be lapped at the time of the race being stopped will be deemed to be lapped on the final result, unless they have successfully unlapped themselves. 3.6.2 Should the red flag be shown, all competitors will stop racing immediately, slow down and proceed to the start line, unless the circuit is blocked, and stop. No pushers, mechanics or anybody other than officials shall come onto the circuit until instructed to do so by the Clerk of the Course. 3.6.3. Any kart requiring mechanical attention, other than the changing of a plug, shall be returned to the pit area. 3.6.4 Any kart involved in the red flag incident may be requested to be rescrutineered before being allowed to take place in further racing. 3.6.5. Red flag procedures will be applied as per 2008 M.S.A. Year Book, Section K72-75.
3.7 SCRUTINEERING 3.7.1 Pre-race will be Sunday morning as per S.R's. 3.7.2. All competitors will be given a scrutineering card which they have sole responsibility to fill in correctly and hand to the scrutineer at pre-race scrutineering. This card must contain the following information - drivers name, class, race number, unique chassis number as MSA K124 and each engines unique number. 3.7.3 The card must be signed by the driver. It is stressed once more that both the completion and handing in of this card is the sole responsibility of the competitor. These cards will be the only method used to check that each competitor is using, at all times, the equipment declared and presented by him/her at pre-race scrutineering. 3.7.4 At any post-race scrutineering, the chassis and engine numbers must be those stated on the scrutineering card. Should it be found that the chassis or engines do not comply to the above requirements, it will be considered to be a matter of fact for which there will be no appeal. 3.7.5 Post-race scrutineering will take place after heats and finals and all results are deemed provisional until all karts are released by the scrutineer and/or after completion of any judicial or any technical procedures, including the test of fuel, which may take several days. 3.7.6 Fuel should be as stated in MSA regulation 149. The scrutineers may make fuel tests. Any driver suspected of having illegal fuel after these tests will be obliged to pay a minimum fee of £300 deposit for an MSA approved fuel test and the race results will be declared provisional. Following such approved MSA test where the fuel is found to be illegal, the driver will be excluded from the results and his/her conduct may reported to the MSA for consideration by a disciplinary tribunal. MSA regulation A82-90 and Kart Race Yearbook 2008, App.4, section B, reg. B.1.1. applies. 3.7.7. The scrutineers may make tyre tests. Tests may be carried out by a portable detector to detect the application of illegal chemical substances applied to tyres, in contravention of MSA regulation K134 as per Kart Race Yearbook 2008, App 4, Section G. 3.7.8 At the discretion of the Chief Scrutineer, standard parts (eg ignition) or tyres (similar or better tread depth) may be supplied by the organizers and must, if requested, be exchanged. These parts/tyres must be returned in good working order at the end of the meeting, unless the entrants part/tyres has been impounded for testing.
3.8 RESULTS 3.8.1.. Post Race Scrutineering will take place after heats and finals and all results are deemed provisional until all karts are released by the Scrutineers and/or after completion of any Judicial or Technical procedures, including the testing of fuel, which may take several days. After 30 days the results will become final provided there are no appeals or tribunals outstanding that may affect those results. Any changes to the original provisional results will be published 3.8.2. Transponder timing systems will be used as per MSA Kart Race Yearbook 2008, Appendix 4, Section F. Any competitor not owning their own transponder will be able to hire one for the duration of the meeting from CKRC. A charge will be made for the hire and the competitor will be responsible for the safe return of the transponder to CKRC and, if lost or damaged, must pay the full costs of repair or replacing the transponder. 3.8.3 TranX160 transponders MUST BE fitted to all karts and it is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that the transponder is working correctly, the signal is not obscured in any way and the battery is sufficiently charged. These transponders will be used for lapscoring and any timed practice and must be in place and working for practice and race days. Transponders not fitted or not working correctly may result in the competitor not being lap scored or timed and no finishing position given.
4. CHAMPIONSHIP AND ROUND PENALTIES - INFRINGEMENT OF TECHNICAL REGULATIONS 4.1.1 Arising from post race scrutineering of judicial action, an exclusion from the whole meeting will incur MSA regulation C(d)39a and 39b. An exclusion for a race (heat or final) the penalty will be decided by the Clerk of the Course on that day. 4.1.2. Infringement of non-technical MSA regulations and the Sporting Regulations issued herewith and individual S.R.'s as per 2008 MSA judicial procedures regulations. 4.1.3. Championship points will be published via the website and on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse. Results become final 7 days after being published in the Clubhouse and any queries must be made, in writing, to the Competition Secretary before this date. Any amendments/alterations after this date are not permitted.
5.1 TECHNICAL REGULATIONS 5.1.1 MSA 2008 Specific Karting Technical Regulations apply together with the 2008 MSA Kart Race Year Book.
5.2. RACE CLASSES 5.2.1 All classes as stated in the 2008 MSA Kart Race Year Book Book will run, provided enough entries are received to make up a race. Classes may be amalgamated if necessary. 5.2.2. In order for a class to count towards the Club Championship, there must be a minimum of 5 drivers in the class, and they must have done more than 50% of the Championship meetings to be eligible for the award.
5.3. CHASSIS 5.3.1 All classes will be allowed one chassis except where the MSA Kart Race Year Book allows two. However, if damage occurs to the chassis which has been scrutineered for the meeting, if in the opinion of the scrutineer it is not practical to repair in time, one alternative chassis may be scrutineered, at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course, in order to continue the meeting.
5.4. ENGINES 5.4.1 All classes are allowed two engines only, except where MSA Kart Race Year Book allows three. |
