Welcome to the Cumbria Kart Racing Club website, winner of the 2006 Alexander Forbes Motor Sports Association Motor Club of the Year. Our home is Rowrah circuit in North Cumbria (punch CA26 3XU into your Tom Tom) or for the traditional people amongst you M6 junction 40, take the A66 to Cockermouth, then the A5086 to Rowrah. CKRC pioneered the "Racing For Buttons" program, our search for a young driver to become the next Formula 1 sensation. With the current success of ex-karting sensation Lewis Hamilton (another driver who has competed at the Rowrah circuit) karting is becoming more and more popular, why not visit CKRC and see if the karting bug bites? We are also part of the MSA Lets go Karting Scheme, where you can come along to the circuit and have a go on a race kart, with full tuition and safety equipment, for just £5.00 (further details elsewhere on the CKRC website). The club is run by true karting enthusiasts, people who have dedicated years to the sport they love, whether they have been competitors, families of competitors, mechanics or regular spectators. As with all good clubs we are always looking for like minded people to help out so if you're interested in helping officiate at club meetings please contact Marion or Malcolm Fell on 01229 463748 for further information. The 2009 season is already looking positive with the two major UK National championships choosing Rowrah circuit for their championship rounds. We are hosting both Rotax and MSA Super 1 rounds and a Stars Of Tomorrow round during the year. As well as this we will also host rounds of the Northern Karting Federation, both their ABkC Championship and the Clubman series, the WTP Little Green Men, the ABkC KF O plate and the Saxon Challenge all visiting us during 2009. The end of 2008 saw a complete resurface of the track and a new extension to the scrutineering bay and parc ferme area. We are always striving to improve the facilities at Rowrah for all our competitors and look forward to seeing you at the track in the 2009 season. |
